Spectrum Commercial Properties believes that we have an obligation to give back to this wonderful community of Greenville, SC. I have served on the board of Gateway which helps adults with persistent mental illness lead lives of dignity by providing meaningful work opportunities, a social structure and independent housing. We provide services to over 250 mentally ill adults each year and on a daily basis 100 members attend the program.
The Greenville community is fortunate to have one of the best run Clubhouse Models of Psychiatric Rehabilitation in the world as well as a training ground that establishes Clubhouses around the world. Please consider supporting us or volunteering your time by going to our website www.gateway-sc.org.
- According to a hospitalization study Gateway significantly reduced the need for psychiatric hospitalization saving the State $1,900,000.
- Gateway provides the necessary community support services to 100 members living independently in the community saving almost $500,000 a year in DSS Optional Supplement payments to residential care facilities.
- Gateway provides prevocational training and job opportunities with local businesses for disabled adults with mental illness. Our members are earning almost $250,000 per year working on real jobs in the community.
- Gateway has provided permanent housing to over 100 homeless mentally ill adults since 2008.
Since 1988 Gateway has been a international training facility for the Clubhouse Model of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and has trained almost 2,000 colleagues from 40 states in the US and 16 foreign countries. This training has resulted in programs like Gateway being developed in countries such as Uganda, China, Austria, Finland, Norway and Denmark.
